Air Fryer Buying Guide for Filipino Homes (2026)

Buying your first air fryer? Here’s what actually matters before you add to cart.

What capacity do you need?

For a family of 4–5, aim for 5L; singles and couples do fine with 3.5L. A 5L basket can fit a whole small chicken, a generous batch of fries, or several pieces of pork chop in one go. Going too small means you’ll be cooking in multiple batches, which defeats the time-saving benefit.

If you’re unsure, go bigger — a 5L unit is not much more expensive than a 3.5L on Shopee PH, and you’ll never wish you had a smaller basket.

Wattage and electricity cost

Most home air fryers run between 1000W and 2225W. Higher wattage means faster preheating and more even cooking, but the difference in your Meralco bill is smaller than you’d think — air fryers cook quickly, so actual usage time per meal is short (typically 10–20 minutes).

A 1500W air fryer running for 20 minutes uses 0.5 kWh. At ₱10/kWh, that’s ₱5 per cooking session — far less than running a full-size oven.

Digital vs. mechanical controls

Mechanical dials are simpler and less likely to fail over time. They’re fine if you just want to set a temperature and a timer.

Digital touchscreens are easier to read, let you set exact temperatures, and often include pre-programmed modes for common foods (chicken, fries, fish). They cost a bit more but the convenience is real.

Our recommendation

For most Filipino households, a 5L digital air fryer in the ₱2,000–₱2,500 range is the sweet spot. You get family-sized capacity, precise controls, and you’re not overpaying for features you don’t need.
