What do the smart features get you?

Something genuinely useful, and something mildly gimmicky.

The useful part is the humidity readout. Humidity is the one number that determines whether an air cooler is doing anything, because evaporation slows as air gets damper. A display that shows the room climbing tells you exactly when to open a window or drop to fan mode. Nothing else in this ranking shows you that.

The Wi-Fi control is more modest. You can switch it on before you get home, which is nice, but the tank still has to be filled by hand, so it never becomes truly hands-off.

How is the cooling?

The vortex fan is the real design feature: it throws air in a tighter stream that reaches further across a room than a standard cage fan’s soft wash. In an open sala that is worth something.

Firefly publishes no airflow or wattage figure though, so we cannot put a number on it, and the tall round fan housing takes more floor area than a flat tower with the same tank.

What is the catch?
