Air frying works by moving hot air around every surface of what you are cooking. Pile the basket and the pieces in the middle steam in their own moisture rather than crisping, which is the single commonest reason a new air fryer disappoints.

So the usable capacity of any fryer is roughly a single layer on the basket floor. A 3.2L basket does one or two portions. Scaling up to 6L is not about cooking six litres, it is about laying out more pieces at once and cooking in one batch instead of three.
