A pee pad is bought once and used every day, so the figure that matters is not the sticker price but the cost per pad, weighed against whether it is big enough for your dog and whether it stays where you put it.

What decides whether a pad works

We compared the most popular dog pee pads on Shopee PH on the things that decide whether a pad works in a real house: cost per pad rather than pack price, pad area against the size of dog it is sold for, the layer count and construction where the brand publishes it, how odour is handled (scent, charcoal, or nothing), and whether the pad has adhesive to keep it on tile. We leaned on strong owner ratings with enough volume to mean something, and we discounted listings that state neither pad size nor pack count. One honest note: several listings in this category advertise antibacterial or sterilisation functions with no published testing behind them, and we have not scored any pad on those claims. Cheap pack, or cheap per use?

Cost per pad, not pack price. A ₱599 pack of 50 costs about ₱12 a pad. A ₱299 box of 120 costs about ₱2.50. That ratio decides whether you change pads when they need changing or ration them, and rationing is how accidents start.

Pad area versus dog size. 45 x 60 cm covers small and medium dogs. Large breeds need roughly 90 x 120 cm. Big dogs do not overshoot because the pad is too thin, they overshoot because they stand in the middle, so buy area rather than layers.

How odour is handled. Fragrance masks ammonia, which suits a small unit. Bamboo charcoal adsorbs it, which suits a dog that mouths its pad. Some dogs refuse perfumed pads outright, so start unscented if you are still training.

Adhesive. Tape or a sticky backing keeps the pad still on tile. It is the difference between a pad your puppy uses and a pad your puppy drags into the sala.

What the listing does not say. A pad with no stated size and no stated pack count cannot be compared on cost. That is a reason to ask the seller before buying, not a reason to assume the worst, but it should count against a listing.
