Does it actually block light?

It darkens a bedroom properly, which is what people buy it for: sleeping past a 6am sunrise, and keeping an aircon room from heating up through the glass. The coffee-brown colorway helps, since darker fabric absorbs more light than a pale panel of the same weight.
