Dreame N20 steam cleaner review: doubles as a garment steamer

The Dreame N20 is the 2-in-1 option here: a spot cleaner for sofas and car seats that also works as a garment steamer. It runs 100°C steam, 70°C hot water, 17,000Pa suction, four cleaning modes, and doses its own solution.

How well does it clean?

On fabric it does the standard job well. 100°C steam is hot enough to deal with dust mites in a mattress, which is the reason a lot of Filipino households buy one of these in the first place, and 70°C hot water handles ordinary stains.

The number that gives ground is suction. 17,000Pa sits below the 18kPa Simplus and UWANT units and clearly below the 20,000Pa machines, so slightly more water stays in the cushion. For everyday spills that’s academic. On a badly soaked seat you’ll feel it in the drying time.

What makes it different?

Two things. It doubles as a garment steamer, so if you were about to buy both a spot cleaner and a clothes steamer, this replaces the pair. For shirts and dresses before work it’s genuinely enough.

And it auto-mixes the solution, dosing detergent into the water rather than leaving you to pour by eye. That’s convenient and prevents over-concentration, though it does steer you toward buying Dreame’s own solution to use it as designed.

If you’d genuinely have bought a garment steamer too, the maths works. If not, cheaper machines clean fabric harder.
