What does buying local actually get you?

Someone to talk to when it fails.

Every other switch in this ranking is an import sold through a Shopee storefront. Lasco is a Philippine company with its own site and local after-sales. When a mains-wired part in your wall stops working in month seven, that difference stops being abstract.

You also get an app maintained for this market, plus Smart Life, Tuya, Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri Shortcuts compatibility, so you are not locked into it.

What is the catch?

Two, and both need saying up front.

You must buy a Lasco Zigbee 3.0 gateway. The switch does nothing on its own. That is normal for Zigbee, but it means your first switch really costs the switch plus the hub.

It will not drive every bulb. Lasco states it will not work with fluorescent lamps, smart bulbs, color lights, gradient lights or light strips. That is the standard no-neutral limitation, and we would rather a brand print it than hide it. Use ordinary LED bulbs and let the switch be the smart part.

Is Zigbee worth the extra box?

If you are wiring more than a few switches, yes. Zigbee devices relay for each other, so the network gets stronger as you add switches, and none of them take a slot on your router. A dozen Wi-Fi switches in a concrete house is where that approach starts to sag.

For one or two switches, the hub is dead weight and a Wi-Fi panel is the smarter buy.
