The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum S40C is a straightforward, well-mannered robot for a small home: LDS laser mapping, a large 520mL bin, and three water levels. It is also the hardest pick to justify in this list, because 5,000Pa at around ₱15,000 sits next to a sibling with three times the suction.

How well does it clean?

On bare tile and vinyl, honestly, fine. 5,000Pa in Turbo mode lifts dust, crumbs, and hair off a hard floor without complaint, and that describes most of the cleaning a Filipino home actually needs. Add an area rug or a shedding pet and it starts skating over what it should be pulling out.

Navigation is proper LDS laser mapping, so it works in the dark, cleans in parallel rows, and supports the Xiaomi Home app. Four power modes let you keep it quiet.

Mopping is a flat drag pad rather than spinning pads, with three water output levels: low for hardwood, high for gritty tile. It wipes rather than scrubs, so it is upkeep, not a substitute for mopping.

What is it like to live with?

Better than the spec sheet suggests, in one specific way. The 520mL dustbin is unusually large for a robot with no auto-empty dock. Most dockless robots carry 300 to 400mL and want emptying every second clean; this one stretches to roughly weekly in a condo. When the dock is the thing you are not buying, bin size is what determines how often the robot interrupts you.

It climbs thresholds up to 20mm with a dry pad, which handles a door strip but not a raised bathroom step.

The Xiaomi S40 Pro lists at around ₱15,200, roughly ₱200 more, and brings 15,000Pa instead of 5,000Pa, spinning mop pads instead of a drag pad, extending corner arms, and a bigger battery.
