AF-899L 8.5L large capacity air fryer review

At around ₱2,100 as of August 6, 2026 for 8.5L. Nothing else on this page gives you that much basket for that little, and the trade is worth stating plainly.

What a big basket really buys

Capacity in an air fryer means floor area, not volume. Air frying needs air moving around each piece, so a stacked basket steams instead of crisping, and what you can actually cook is a single layer on the bottom.

An 8.5L floor takes a whole chicken, a full tray of wings, or enough chips for a family in one go. For a household of five or six, that is the difference between one batch and three, and it is a real change to how a weeknight goes.

The costs are honest ones. It takes more counter space, takes longer to heat, and holds more air to keep hot, so a single small cook in a large fryer wastes energy compared with doing it in a small one.

The wattage is not published, so neither is the running cost

Air fryers draw roughly 1,300W to 1,700W, and a chamber this size will sit near the top.

At Meralco rates around ₱12 to ₱13 a kilowatt-hour, 1700W for twenty minutes is about 0.57 kWh, or roughly ₱7. A large chamber also takes longer to preheat, which adds to that.

That is still a fraction of running a full-size oven, which is the comparison that matters and the reason to own one at all. It would be better to be able to calculate it rather than estimate, and this listing does not let you.

Unbranded is the real trade

No manufacturer to look up, no service network, no parts.

Air fryers fail in predictable places: the heating element, the fan motor, the control board and the basket coating. A brand with local service can replace the first three. An unbranded fryer with a dead element is finished, whatever it cost.

At ₱2,100 that is a defensible bet, and it is a bet. A branded 6L like the Imarflex IAF-761DH costs more than twice as much and can be opened by a technician here, which over five years may be the cheaper path.

Two habits worth more than any feature

Preheat three to five minutes. Food dropped into a cold chamber gives up moisture before the surface can brown, and a large chamber takes longer to get there, so this matters more here than on a small fryer.

Single layer, spaced. The temptation with a big basket is to fill it, which is exactly what stops it crisping. Use the floor area to spread out, not to pile up.

Check the basket coating on arrival

The non-stick surface is the part that ages first on a cheap fryer, and a scratched coating is where food starts sticking and burning.

Wash by hand, use silicone or wooden tongs rather than metal, and do not stack anything inside the basket in storage.

Who the AF-899L suits

Buy this if you cook for a large household, you want the most floor area for the money, and you accept that it is not repairable.

Skip it for a small household, where a smaller fryer heats faster and costs less per cook.
