The Hanabishi HMO20MBD is a plain-speaking 20L digital microwave: 10 power levels, a pull-out door handle, and a brand with service centers across the Philippines.

How well does it reheat?

700W output in a 20L cavity, which is the standard here and reheats a plate of rice and ulam in about two minutes. Same as the Condura, Midea, Whirlpool, and Asahi 20L units.

The control is better than the price suggests. Ten power levels is double what the dial-driven models offer and matches the Condura digital, which costs more. Fine steps are what let you soften butter, melt chocolate, or warm leftover adobo at a setting that doesn’t cook the edges dry.

What’s missing is the auto-cook menu. There are no one-press presets, so every job is set by hand: pick a power level, set a time, press start. That’s not a problem if you’re used to microwaves, but it’s a feature other digital units at this price include.

Is it easy to live with?

Two things stand out, and both are practical rather than flashy.

The pull-out door handle is the first. You open a microwave several times a day, often with wet or greasy hands, and a handle takes one motion where a push-button latch needs a clean deliberate press. Latches also get sticky over the years. It’s a small choice you notice constantly.

The second is Hanabishi’s nationwide service network. A microwave’s magnetron is a serviceable part, and a fault in year four is a repair rather than a write-off if you can walk into a service center. The glass turntable is likewise a cheap, easily replaced part rather than a proprietary one.

At 10.45kg with a black finish, it’s a conventional 20L box that fits a standard counter.

Buy this if you want proper power control and a serviceable local brand without paying for presets you wouldn’t use. It’s the right choice for a household of one to three who set their own times anyway and want a handle rather than a latch. If you want auto-cook programs or a longer timer, spend a bit more.
