HiBREW H11 espresso machine review

The HiBREW H11 is the espresso machine for a kitchen with no counter space: a slim brushed stainless body about 11cm wide, 20 bar pump, 1450W, and it takes both ESE pods and ground coffee. Around ₱5,800. The catch is the steam wand, which is manual and takes practice.

How narrow is 11cm, really?

Narrower than a standard dinner plate. Most espresso machines are 25cm to 30cm wide and eat a serious chunk of counter; this one stands in the gap beside a microwave. In a condo kitchen or a shared apartment that is often the difference between owning an espresso machine and deciding you have no room for one.

Pods or ground coffee?

Both, which is unusual at this price and genuinely useful. ESE pods are pre-dosed paper-wrapped pucks: no grinder, no tamping, no mess, about 30 seconds start to finish. Ground coffee gives you control and costs far less per cup. Most households end up doing both, pods on a rushed weekday and ground at the weekend, and buying a machine that refuses one of them is a decision you regret later.

What about milk?

The steam wand is manual, not automatic. It will produce proper microfoam for a flat white, and it will also produce a jug of bubbles for the first fortnight while you learn the angle and depth. That is normal, and worth knowing before you buy: an automatic frother is more forgiving, a wand has a higher ceiling.

Is the HiBREW H11 Espresso sulit?

On one coffee a day over three years, which is reasonable for a thermoblock machine that gets descaled, that is about ₱5.30 a cup.
