Cost the capsules, not the machine

A capsule system is a subscription with a device attached, and the honest way to evaluate it is per cup.

Original Nespresso capsules run roughly ₱30 to ₱40 each. At two cups a day that is around ₱25,000 a year, several times what the machine cost.

The comparison people usually intend, though, is not ground coffee. It is a cafe. A latte out is ₱150 to ₱200, so a capsule at home is a fraction of it, and for anyone currently buying coffee on the way to work this machine pays for itself in weeks.

The comparison that goes the other way is a semi-automatic and a bag of beans, where a shot costs roughly ₱10 to ₱15 of coffee. That route is cheaper per cup and asks for a grinder, technique and time.

Decide which of those two you are actually replacing. That is the whole decision.

Ready in twenty-five seconds, with no grounds to clean up

Consistency without skill. A capsule contains a measured dose, ground and tamped at the factory and sealed against air. Every cup is the same, which no semi-automatic delivers without practice.

Speed. Twenty-five seconds to heat, one button, no grinder, no portafilter, no tamping, no knock box.

No mess. The used capsule drops into a bin. There is no puck to knock out, no grounds on the counter, no group head to wipe.

For a household where coffee is a morning routine rather than a hobby, those three are worth real money, and pretending otherwise is snobbery.

Locked to one supplier’s capsules, ground weeks before brewing

You cannot use your own coffee, at least not without third-party refillable capsules, which are fiddly and mixed in results. You are buying into one supplier’s range at one supplier’s price.

Freshness is fixed. A sealed capsule stays good for a long time, and it also means the coffee was ground weeks or months before you drank it. A fresh bag of local beans ground that morning tastes different, and to some people better.

Milk is manual. The Essenza Mini brews only; anything with milk needs a separate frother.

Café espresso at home with no technique to learn

Buy this if you want reliable espresso with no technique, you are replacing daily cafe coffee, and you have costed the capsules.

Skip it if cost per cup is your measure, where beans and a semi-automatic are cheaper.
