Whose cup is a cup?

There is no single measuring cup. A US customary cup is about 237ml, the US nutrition-labelling cup is 240ml, a metric cup is 250ml, and a Japanese cup is 200ml.

That last one matters here. Japanese kitchen measures are built around a 200ml cup, which is a fifth smaller than the metric cup and a sixth smaller than an American one. If this set follows the Japanese standard and you bake from an American recipe, every cup of flour you add is short.
