Pawsmart mini knotted bone dog chew review

At around ₱7 as of August 1, 2026 a piece, a 2.5-inch knotted bone. Cheap, and the dimension in the name is a safety specification rather than a description.

Size is the safety spec

The rule for any chew is simple: it should be too big for the dog to swallow whole.

At 2.5 inches, this is a chew for a very small dog. For a medium or large dog it is a mouthful, and a mouthful is exactly how a chew becomes an emergency.

Buy the size that matches the animal in front of you, not the price. A chew that costs seven pesos and needs a surgeon is not a cheap chew.

Knotted ends are the part that comes off

A knotted bone is made by tying the ends of a strip, and those knots are the first part to soften as a dog works at it.

An enthusiastic chewer will eventually detach one. A softened lump is a choking risk in the mouth and an obstruction risk further down, and an intestinal obstruction is surgery rather than something that passes.

That turns supervision from generic advice into a specific instruction: watch while it is being chewed, and take it away once it is small enough to swallow or the ends have loosened. The last third of any chew is the dangerous third.

What a chew is genuinely good for

Not primarily teeth. Dogs chew because chewing occupies them, and an occupied dog is a calmer dog.

For a dog left alone during the working day, a chew is one of the few things that gives it a job. It works better than most toys for exactly that reason, and it costs very little.

Some chews do help with plaque through the mechanical action of working at them, and that benefit is real and partial. It is not brushing, and dental disease in dogs sits mostly below the gum line where nothing edible reaches. A dog with visible tartar, bad breath or a reluctance to chew on one side needs a vet.

Treats should stay under roughly a tenth of a dog’s daily calories, and chews count.

A 10kg dog needs around 600 to 700 kcal a day, so the treat budget is about 60 to 70. A daily chew on top of a full bowl of food is how weight creeps on, and obesity is the commonest preventable health problem dogs have. Take a little food out of the bowl on chew days.

Buy this if you have a genuinely small dog, you will supervise, and you will take it away before the last third.
