The number that does not sit right

Two hundred strips of roughly 15g each is about three kilos of wet treat. At ₱137 that would be around ₱46 a kilo.

For comparison, the cheapest cat food on this site, the CARTY 430g wet can, works out around ₱100 a kilo, and the cheapest kibble is around ₱113. A treat costing less than half the cheapest food is not impossible, and it is unusual enough to check.

The likely explanation is ordinary: Shopee displays the lowest variant’s price on a listing with several quantity options, and several similar listings on this page offer 30, 50, 100 and 150-piece choices under one price. So the ₱137 may buy a smaller pack than the title’s headline number.

One message to the shop settles it, and it changes the value of this listing completely.

Two a day, and why that is the ceiling

Treats should stay under roughly a tenth of a cat’s daily calories. A 4kg adult needs about 200 to 250 kcal, so treats get about 20 to 25.

A lickable strip of this size runs roughly 6 to 8 kcal. That puts the limit at two or three a day, with a little taken out of the meal to compensate.

So if the pack really is 200, it is over three months of treats for one cat. That is a long time for a wet product to sit in a Philippine kitchen, and worth checking the best-before dates when it arrives.

What lickable strips are genuinely for

Two jobs nothing else does as well.

Water. Cats take most of their moisture from what they eat and many drink too little from a bowl. A strip is mostly water in a form a cat wants.

Medication. A crushed tablet disappears into a lickable paste, and a cat licking from a strip is a cat standing still and cooperating.

Both are worth more than the treat value, and both are reasons to keep a few in the house even if you do not treat daily.

Who should buy the 200-piece pack

Buy this if you have confirmed which quantity the price covers, you use lickable strips regularly, and you can store a few months of wet treats somewhere cool.

Skip it if you want to know what you are paying per piece before you order, which for now you cannot.
