What an immunity claim needs before it means anything

For a functional claim to be worth paying for, two things have to be on the pack: which ingredient is doing the work, and how much of it is in there.

This listing gives neither. No ingredient list, no guaranteed analysis, no pack count and no calorie figure. So the immunity wording is a positioning line rather than a specification, and there is nothing to compare it against.

It is also worth saying the plain thing: a healthy cat eating a complete and balanced food is already getting everything its immune system needs. A treat cannot add to that, because a treat is a tenth of the diet at most. Where a cat genuinely has an immune problem, that is a vet’s territory, not a snack’s.

What lickable treats are actually excellent at

Two jobs, and both are real.

Water. Cats evolved to take most of their moisture from prey and many drink too little from a bowl. A lickable strip is mostly water in a form a cat wants, which is the easiest way to get fluid into one that ignores the water dish.

Medication. Crushed tablets disappear into a lickable paste in a way they cannot into kibble, and a cat licking from a strip is a cat holding still and cooperating. Anyone who has tried to pill a cat knows what that is worth.

For either purpose, buy the format and ignore the wording on the front.

Two a day, and take it out of the meal

Treats should stay under roughly a tenth of a cat’s calories: about 20 to 25 kcal for a 4kg adult out of 200 to 250. A lickable strip is usually 6 to 8 kcal, so two or three is the daily ceiling, and the meal should come down a little to match.

That matters more with lickable treats than with any other kind, because cats will take them indefinitely and there is no crunch to slow anyone down.

The official store is the real argument

Petsup sells this itself rather than through a reseller, which in this category is the strongest quality signal available: one party accountable for the batch, and a recipe that should not change quietly between orders.

Buy this if you want a lickable treat from a brand’s own store and you value knowing who made it more than you value the lowest price per strip.
