Sinocare GA-3 test strips and lancets 100-pack review

At around ₱579 as of August 24, 2026 for 100 strips and 100 lancets, which is roughly ₱5.79 a strip. This is the product that shows what a glucose meter really costs.

The arithmetic the meter listings do not do

The Sinocare GA-3 meter kit is around ₱599 and comes with 50 strips, so the device itself is a small share of that.

Then the ongoing cost starts. Testing once a day is about 365 strips a year, roughly ₱2,100. Testing twice a day is around 730 strips, roughly ₱4,200. Testing four times a day, which some people on insulin are advised to do, is around ₱8,400 a year.

Every one of those figures is larger than the meter. That is why the sensible way to choose a glucose meter is to look at its strip price and its strip availability first, and treat the device as a rounding error.

Strips are tied to one meter

These fit the GA-3 and nothing else. There is no generic glucose strip, and Sinocare alone sells several meter lines on this site with incompatible consumables.

So before committing to any meter, check that its strips are stocked consistently by a shop you can reach, and what they cost. A meter whose refills go out of stock is a meter that stops being used.

Strips do not keep forever

Two dates matter and only one is obvious.

The expiry date on the vial, which is the outer limit.

The discard-by period after opening, usually a few months, printed on the label. Glucose strips carry an enzyme that degrades once exposed to air and humidity, and a Philippine kitchen or bathroom supplies plenty of both.

That changes how much to buy. If you test weekly, a hundred strips is nearly two years of testing and most of them will expire in the vial. Buy the quantity you will use inside the open-vial window, keep the vial closed tightly, and store it somewhere dry and away from heat.

The lancets are the other half

Use each one once. A lancet point is blunted after a single prick, and a blunt lancet hurts more and bruises more. Reusing them also carries an infection risk.

Two habits make testing far less unpleasant. Prick the side of the fingertip rather than the pad, since there are fewer nerve endings there and it is the part you use less. And rotate fingers so no single spot toughens up.

Warm hands bleed more easily, so if you are struggling for a drop, run the hand under warm water and let it hang down for a few seconds.

Who should buy this pack

Buy this if you own a GA-3 and you will get through a hundred strips inside the open-vial period.

Skip the hundred and buy smaller if you test occasionally, where most of the pack would expire unused.
