Sinocare Safe-Accu glucometer kit with 100 strips review

At around ₱919 as of August 24, 2026, with 100 strips and 100 lancets. The brand sells the same meter with half the strips, so the comparison is straightforward.

What the extra fifty strips cost

The Sinocare Safe-Accu glucose monitor kit is around ₱609 with 50 strips and 50 lancets, on the same date.

The difference is about ₱310 for fifty more strips and fifty more lancets, which works out near ₱6.20 a strip.

That is the number to carry to the rest of the shelf. A plain refill pack for a different Sinocare meter, the GA-3 strips and lancets, comes in around ₱5.79 a strip. So the bundled strips here are priced roughly in line with buying refills, slightly above.

Which means the bigger kit is convenience rather than a discount, and there is nothing wrong with that as long as you know it.

How long a hundred strips actually lasts

Testing twice a day, about fifty days. Once a day, a bit over three months. Four times a day, which some people on insulin are told to do, about twenty-five days.

Set against that, a hundred strips is not a stockpile. It is a month or a season, which is why the ongoing cost of testing swamps the price of any meter: a year of twice-daily testing is around 730 strips.

The limit on stocking up

Strips carry two dates. The expiry on the vial, and a discard-by period once the vial is opened, usually a few months, because the enzyme on the strip degrades in air and humidity.

Philippine humidity is not kind to them. Keep the vial closed tightly, store it somewhere dry and away from heat, and do not buy more strips than you will use inside the open window, whatever the bulk price looks like.

What the meter gives you

A 0.6 microlitre sample, a 10-second test, 200 readings of memory with 7, 14 and 28-day averages, and code-free strips.

Code-free is worth having. Older meters needed a code matched to each strip batch, and a mismatch shifted every reading without any sign that anything was wrong.

The averages are the useful output. A single reading is a snapshot with real error in it; a fortnight of readings is a pattern, and a pattern is what a doctor can act on.

Two things to ask about

ISO 15197:2013, the accuracy standard for home glucose meters, requiring 95% of results within ±15% of a laboratory reference at 100 mg/dL and above. No meter listing on this page states whether it meets it, and it is the question worth asking.

Control solution, a liquid with a known glucose value used to check that the meter and the strips are reading correctly. It is the only way to verify a meter at home and almost nobody buys it.

Who should buy the 100-strip kit

Buy this if you test daily, you want the meter and a few months of consumables in one order, and you have somewhere dry to keep them.

Skip it if you test occasionally, where most of the strips will expire in the vial.
