A note on ratings in this category: all three picks show near-perfect scores across very small order counts, so we weighted published engineering data and brand retail presence far more heavily than star ratings.
Reach should match your tallest real job, not your ambition: 8-10ft for indoor ceilings, around 3m for single-storey gutters, 16ft for a second storey. Folded size is the spec people regret ignoring, because a telescopic collapses to a 65-78cm block while a 16ft multi-purpose folds to a long bundle needing wall space. The load rating should be published, and watch for ladders that rate differently by position, since a multi-purpose ladder can be 150kg as an A-frame but only 100kg leaning straight. Free-standing or not decides whether you can work in the middle of a room: telescopic ladders lean, A-frames don’t. Finally, aluminum is the sensible material up here, light enough to carry and rust-free outdoors.

The Surestep 4x4 multi-purpose ladder takes Best Reach at around ₱5,600, extending to 16ft and reconfiguring as an A-frame, straight ladder, or scaffold, though it drops to a 100kg rating in straight or scaffold position. The Wadfow telescopic ladder is our Tallest Telescopic at around ₱5,100, with a 12-step variant and the same 150kg rating, though it publishes no dimensions. The HOMER 8.5ft telescopic ladder is our Best Compact at around ₱5,500, nine steps in the smallest stored package, held back by publishing no load rating.

Telescopic collapses to a compact block you can stand in a cabinet or fit in a car, but it's a straight ladder that needs a wall to lean on. Multi-purpose free-stands as an A-frame, reaches higher, and can be set as a scaffold, but folds to a long bundle that wants garage space. Choose on storage and whether you have a wall.
For indoor ceilings and aircon units, 8-10ft is plenty. For single-storey gutters, around 3m works. For a second-storey window or wall, you want 16ft. Buying more height than you need makes the ladder heavier, pricier, and harder to store.
150kg is the common figure and covers an adult plus tools. Watch for ladders that quote different ratings by position: the Surestep is 150kg as an A-frame but only 100kg as a straight ladder or scaffold, and most listings only mention the higher number.
A little. Keep the sliding sections clean, because grit in the rails is what makes them stick or bind. Wipe them down after outdoor use and store them somewhere dry, which aluminum tolerates well.
