Carrier 12L dehumidifier review: best overall

The Carrier 12L is our Best Overall dehumidifier: a compressor unit rated at 12 liters a day across 30 sqm, drawing 240W, for around ₱9,500 as of August 12, 2026.

Why does it win?

Because it is the cheapest machine in this category that actually does the job.

Most of what Shopee PH sells as a “dehumidifier” is a peltier unit pulling 450 to 1,080 ml a day. The Carrier pulls 12,000 ml a day. That is not a better version of the same thing, it is a different class of appliance, and it is the difference between a room that dries out and a room that stays musty while a small box hums in the corner.

Among the real compressor units, this one is the value entry. It has 4.9 from more than 400 owners and 2K+ sold, which is the strongest feedback of any 12L-class unit here, and Carrier has the service network to match: this is a brand that has been fixing aircon in the Philippines for decades.

How well does it work?

The published numbers are sensible and, unusually for this category, they agree with each other. 12L/day over 30 sqm at 240W is a coherent spec: a machine that size can genuinely condition a room that size.

Expect it to work hardest in the first day or two, then settle. Once a room reaches roughly 50% to 60% relative humidity, the unit cycles rather than running flat out, and the 240W figure becomes an occasional draw rather than a constant one.

The practical limit is the 30 sqm coverage. That is one room. It is not a floor, and it is not an open-plan sala plus dining area with the doors open.

What is the build like?

Compact and plain. At 256 x 203 x 415 mm it takes up about the footprint of a small trash bin, which is genuinely useful: it fits beside a bed, in a closet doorway, or under a desk.

The catch is that it has no castors, and it weighs about 10kg. If you were picturing one unit that follows the family from bedroom to sala, this is not it. You will be lifting it, and 10kg is enough to make that a two-handed job. The Simplus LiteDry C6 has castors fitted as standard.

That is real money, so frame it properly. A compressor appliance from a brand with local service should give you several years: if it lasts five, which is a reasonable expectation for this class, that works out at about ₱158 a month. Against the cost of repainting a mold-damaged wall, or replacing clothes and bags that went moldy in a damp aparador, that is a straightforward win.

There is a second saving people miss. Dry air feels cooler than damp air at the same temperature, so households often find they can raise the aircon a degree or two and feel the same. On a Meralco bill, that gap is not nothing.

Who should buy it

Buy this if you have one damp room and you want it genuinely fixed: a bedroom with condensation, mold returning on a wall, or an aparador that smells musty no matter what you put in it. It is the right choice for most Filipino homes, and the safest single purchase in the category.

Skip it if you need to cover a whole floor (size up to 30L/day), if you want to wheel one unit between rooms, or if the job is really just one wardrobe, where a peltier unit costs a fifth as much and is the correct tool.
