What does it get right?

The controls, and one rare piece of honesty. The 24 hour auto shut-off plus delay start means the room can be cooling before you get home and stop by itself overnight, which is more scheduling than anything else here offers.

The floater sensor shuts the unit off when the condensate tray fills, protecting both the aircon and your floor, and the washable mesh filter means no consumable to keep buying.

Dowell is also one of only two sellers in this ranking to publish a BTU figure at all.

And then the capacity problem

The listing calls it 1.5HP and states 9,000 BTU/hr. Those are not the same thing.

Roughly, 1.0HP is about 9,000 BTU and 1.5HP is about 12,000 BTU. So the capacity claim and the measured figure disagree by a full horsepower class, and nothing else on the listing settles it.

Our advice is to believe the BTU figure, because it is the measured one, and treat this as a 1.0HP unit suited to a bedroom of roughly 8 to 12 sqm. If you buy it expecting to cool a sala, you will be disappointed.

That matters at this price. It sits at the top of the category while offering, on its own numbers, bedroom capacity.

What else is missing?

No wattage, no room coverage, and no warranty period. For a unit in the top price tier, that is thin, and it leaves the HP question unresolved.

The timer features are good, but the Hanabishi publishes coverage and five years of compressor cover for less, and the Fujidenzo gives you R32 and self-draining at 1.5HP for less again. Hard to call sulit.

Who the Dowell PA-12K25 suits

Buy this if scheduling matters to you, you want the floater-sensor safety, and you are sizing it as a 1.0HP for a bedroom. It is a well-featured unit sold with a confusing spec sheet. If capacity is what you are paying for, buy elsewhere.
