TP-Link Archer C24 review: best 3-in-1 router and extender

Why buy a router when you wanted an extender?

Because it is the more flexible ₱1,200. A wall-plug extender does one job forever. This box does three, and you pick the job at setup.

Router mode replaces a tired ISP-issued unit outright. Access point mode turns a room that already has a LAN cable into a Wi-Fi zone, which is the cleanest fix there is: no repeat hop, no halved throughput. Range extender mode is the one you probably came for, and it works with any brand of router upstream.

That flexibility has real value over a few years. The C24 can be your main router now and get demoted to extending the far wing when you upgrade, instead of being replaced.

The hardware backs it up for the money: four external antennas for reach, and four LAN ports so wired gear in that room does not need a separate switch. WPA3 is the current Wi-Fi security standard and a genuine reason to pick this over older budget boxes.

What is the catch?

433Mbps on 5GHz is the slowest 5GHz link of any dual-band pick here, roughly half the RE315’s 867Mbps. For streaming, video calls, and browsing that is plenty. For moving big files or serving a busy household, it is thin.

And every port is 10/100Mbps. One WAN, four LAN, all capped at 100Mbps, so a wired device on a fiber plan above that is throttled by the box rather than by your plan.

Also worth saying: because it is a router in a flat case, it needs a shelf and a power adapter, where a wall-plug extender just needs a socket.

Is it worth it?

Around ₱1,200 as of August 23, 2026. Check the latest price on Shopee. Compared with a plain extender at the same price, you get four wired ports, four antennas, WPA3, and the option to change its job later. Compared with the RE315 at around ₱1,600, you give up mesh roaming and half the 5GHz speed but save money and gain the ports.

Who should buy it

Buy this if you want one box that can change jobs, if you need wired ports in the far room, or if your ISP router is old and you would rather replace it than patch around it.
