The De’Longhi Icona Vintage is a good kettle bought for how it looks. 2000W, 1.7L, concealed element, 360° base, wrapped in the enamel retro styling of the Icona range. Around ₱6,800.
How well does it work?
Properly. 2000W on a full 1.7L is near the fast end, behind only the 2200W kettles here. The heating element is concealed in the base, so there is no coil in the water to collect limescale, and the inside wipes out as a smooth bowl. With hard Philippine tap water that is a genuine benefit.
The safety basics are stated: automatic shut-off and boil-dry protection. The 360° cordless base lets you set it down from any angle, and there is a removable lid and a water level indicator.
The lever switch is the signature. It works like any kettle switch, released at boil or when lifted, but it is styled as a lever and it is the detail that makes the kettle look like the Icona toaster next to it.
What are the limits?
Single wall, so it gets hot. At this price that is a real omission when the Philips HD9395 is double-walled for around ₱3,600 less.
