Metro Bakewares MB5569 300ml clear measuring cup review

A 300ml clear jug at around ₱160 as of August 19, 2026. It does the job, and its own sibling makes the case against it.

The 600ml is barely dearer

The Metro Bakewares MB5568 600ml is around ₱216 on the same date. That is twice the capacity for about a third more money.

Put another way, the small jug costs roughly ₱53 per 100ml and the large one about ₱36. On a per-millilitre basis the 300ml is comfortably the worse buy, which is normal for small sizes and unusually pronounced here.

There is one honest reason to choose the small one anyway, and it is worth knowing.

Small jugs read small amounts better

Liquid is measured against a line on the side, and how precise that reading is depends on how wide the vessel is. In a wide jug a millimetre of liquid height is a lot of millilitres, so the lower part of the scale becomes a judgement.

Measuring 50ml in a 300ml jug is easy. In a 600ml jug it is noticeably less so, and in a litre jug it is a guess.

So the 300ml is not simply a worse-value 600ml. It is the jug for small liquid amounts, and plenty of baking is exactly that.

Headroom, and why a 300ml jug is not a 300ml container

Every graduated jug carries empty space above its top mark. Liquid cannot be swept level the way flour can, so a jug filled to the brim spills on the way to the bowl.

That means the top graduation sits below the rim and the jug’s usable measuring range ends there. It is why a jug and a dry cup are built in opposite ways: the cup has no headroom because you fill it to the brim and level it, and the jug has headroom because you cannot.

What the listing does not say

No material. Four jugs on this page state borosilicate, which is the glass that survives a sudden temperature change. This one names nothing, so treat it as ordinary glass and keep boiling liquids out of it.

Who should buy the MB5569

Buy this if you want a small jug specifically for small amounts, you like the Metro Home range, and you have something else for stock and batter.

Skip it as your only jug. The 600ml is better value and covers more.
