Nutricare improved formula dry cat food 1kg review

At around ₱113 as of August 1, 2026 for 1kg, this is the cheapest complete cat food on this page, wet or dry. It is worth turning that into the number you actually spend.

Seven pesos a day

A 4kg adult cat needs roughly 200 to 250 kcal a day. Typical kibble runs around 350 to 400 kcal per 100g, so that is about 55 to 65g in the bowl daily.

At this price a kilo lasts a single cat somewhere around two and a half weeks, which works out near ₱7 a day. Two cats make it a bit over ₱14 and a bag every eight or nine days.

Wet-only feeding is several times the daily cost, every day, which is why most Filipino households feed kibble with a pouch on top.

The dental claim is not true, of this or any kibble

Dry food is widely sold on the idea that the crunch cleans teeth. It does not, in any way worth counting on.

Most cats crush a biscuit on first contact rather than chewing through it, so the piece never scrapes along the gum line where plaque actually sits. Dental disease is extremely common in cats regardless of what they eat.

Feed kibble for the price, the convenience and the shelf life, which are all real. Handle teeth with brushing and vet checks.

Improved, unspecified

The name says improved formula. The listing does not say what changed, from what, or when, and publishes no crude protein, fat or moisture figure to compare against anything.

That is the normal state of this shelf rather than a Nutricare failing. It does mean the honest reason to buy this bag is the price, and that is a perfectly good reason as long as you are not also paying a premium for a claim.

Where the low price genuinely wins

Feeding several cats, feeding a rescue colony, or simply keeping a cat fed on a tight budget. At this price the difference against a mid-range kibble across a year is real money, and a cheap complete food in the bowl beats an expensive one you cannot keep buying.

Add a wet pouch a few times a week for moisture and you have covered the main thing kibble does badly.
