3D Retro Aire SF40RA review: a fan you leave out on purpose

How much air does it move?

3D publishes 48 m³/min, and that is the lowest figure in our entire stand fan roundup. Credit to 3D for printing it, because most brands at this price do not, but the number is what it is.

To be concrete: the ₱2,500 Asahi PF-631 moves 71.6 m³/min, half again as much, and the 35W Asahi DC-6082 moves 54.5 on a third less power. This fan is a personal breeze and a small-bedroom fan. It is not a sala fan, and it is not the fan for a hot April afternoon with three people in the room.

The motor is a 50W AC unit driving a 4-leaf metal blade at three speeds on a rotary switch, with 90-degree oscillation and 30 degrees of vertical tilt. There is a thermal fuse in the motor.

How is the design and build?

This is the entire reason to buy it, and the reason it earns its spot. 3D sells the Retro Aire in sapphire blue, celadon green, old rose, clay, and emerald green, on an all-metal body with a metal 4-leaf blade.

Almost every fan in this roundup is white, black, or grey plastic. This one is designed to be a visible object in a room, like a piece of furniture, and there is nothing else in the category that does the same job.

The metal construction backs it up rather than being a finish trick: metal blades will not warp, crack, or yellow the way AS plastic does over a decade. The trade is noise, since metal rings where plastic damps, so keep the guard screws tight.

At 5.7kg and 44.5 x 40 x 124cm it is a normal-sized fan. Three speeds, no timer, no remote, 1-year parts and labor warranty.

Is this stand fan sulit?

On performance alone the answer is no, and we would rather say that plainly. You are paying ₱1,000 more than the Asahi PF-631 for two thirds of the airflow.

What you are actually buying is a fan you are willing to leave standing in a well-styled room, in a color you chose, built from metal that will still look right in ten years. That is a legitimate reason to spend money, and it is the only fan here that offers it.

Running cost at 50W and eight hours a night is about 12 kWh a month, roughly ₱177 at around ₱14.78 per kWh (Meralco, August 2026), which is mid-pack.

The 1-year warranty is short next to the five-year motor cover from Asahi, Midea, Hanabishi, and Panasonic, and that is worth weighing on a fan bought to keep.

Who this stand fan suits

Buy this if the fan will stand in a room you have decorated and you want it to look like it belongs there, and the room is small enough that 48 m³/min is enough. It is the right choice for a bedroom, a reading corner, or a small cafe, where color and material matter more than raw air. If you need to cool a sala or a family gathering, buy on airflow and pick something else.
