Asahi BG-6026 baby safe stand fan review: mesh that works

The Asahi BG-6026 is our Best for kids pick: a fine-mesh baby-safe grill that still delivers 67.4 m³/min, at around ₱2,800, backed by the largest rating base in our roundup.

Does the safety grill cost you anything?

Almost nothing, which is the surprise. Asahi publishes 67.4 m³/min at 1,500 rpm for the BG-6026, against 71.6 for the open-grille PF-631. That is roughly 6% less air for a guard a toddler’s fingers cannot pass through.

Most “child safe” fans either use a slightly tighter wire spacing and call it a day, or choke the airflow badly. This one gets the mesh genuinely fine while still landing in the top three fans here for airflow. In a normal Pinoy bedroom or sala, 67.4 m³/min is more than enough.

The motor is a 65W AC unit driving a 16-inch 3-leaf AS plastic blade. There is no efficiency story here: this is a plain, strong, thirsty fan with a better guard.

How is the build?

Heavy, and deliberately so. At 7.1kg with a wide base it is one of the most planted fans in the roundup, which is the second half of the child-safety argument. A 2.9kg smart fan can be pulled over by a determined two-year-old; this one resists it.

Oscillation is 90 degrees with tilt, and controls are three plain speeds. Asahi prints the two safety specs that matter on a fan left running overnight: a thermal cut-off fuse and a double insulated AC cord.

The real drawback of the fine mesh is maintenance. Tight mesh catches dust much faster than a wide grille, and it is fiddlier to clean, which in a Philippine house with an open window is a monthly job rather than a yearly one. Skip it and the motor works harder.

There is no timer and no remote at this price, which on a fan for a child’s room is a genuine miss.

You are paying roughly ₱300 over the PF-631 for the mesh guard and the heavier base. In a house with a small child, that is the easiest ₱300 in the category to justify.

Running cost is the honest downside: at 65W and eight hours a night, about 15.6 kWh a month, roughly ₱231 at around ₱14.78 per kWh (Meralco, August 2026), against about ₱124 for a 35W DC fan. If this fan runs in a nursery every night of the year, that gap adds up to roughly ₱1,280 a year.

Who this stand fan suits

Buy this if there is a crawling or toddling child in the house. It is the right choice for a nursery, a sala where a baby plays on a mat, or a lola’s house where grandchildren visit, and the near-full airflow means you are not trading comfort for safety. If there are no small children around, the PF-631 gives you more air for less money and less cleaning.
