KEELAT KCD015 18V drill review: a big number on a small chuck

The KEELAT KCD015 is an 18V brushless drill kit with two batteries, a charger, a case, and a smart auto-stop safety cutoff, at around ₱2,100. It’s well specified for furniture and household work. The thing to understand before buying is that the 10mm chuck and 21+1 clutch rule out masonry, whatever the 70Nm on the box suggests.

What can it actually drill?

Wood, metal, plastic, and screws: comfortably. The 21+1 clutch gives 21 torque steps plus a drill mode, which is fine control for cabinet screws and flat-pack furniture, and the self-locking chuck grips bits without slipping.

What’s missing is a third clutch position. That third setting is the hammer mode, and without it there’s no percussion, so a masonry bit just spins and polishes. The 10mm chuck confirms the intent, since it won’t even accept the bigger masonry bits. A 70Nm claim on a 10mm chuck is an odd pairing: the torque suggests heavy work, the chuck says light work, and the chuck wins.

Is the auto-stop worth having?

Yes, and it’s the most interesting feature here. When the drill senses the bit binding, it cuts power instead of transferring that force into your wrist. Anyone who has had a hole saw grab in plywood knows why that matters. On a brushless drill with real torque, it’s a sensible piece of engineering rather than a marketing badge.

The rest is a tidy package: two 18V batteries so one charges while the other works, a charger, and a hard case. That’s more in the box than most drills at this price.
