Torque is the number that matters: 16–25Nm for wood and furniture, 40Nm or more plus a hammer mode for concrete. Chuck size comes next, since a 10mm chuck caps your bit size while a 13mm metal chuck takes masonry bits and holds them better. A brushless motor runs cooler and lasts longer, and it’s no longer a premium-only feature. Voltage is really a proxy for size and weight: 12V drills are about 1kg and easy to handle, 20V drills are roughly double that with the power to match. Finally, check what’s in the box, because two batteries and a bit set can be worth more than a slightly better spec.
Be skeptical of one thing: a torque figure with no rpm range and no test standard behind it. Brands that publish full data sheets have earned more trust than brands that publish a single big number.

For furniture, shelves, and screws in wood, 16–25Nm is enough. To drill hollow block or concrete for wall brackets, you want 40Nm or more plus a hammer mode. Under 25Nm with no hammer setting, treat masonry as out of scope no matter what the listing promises.
If you use it more than a few times a year, yes. A brushless motor has no carbon brushes wearing down inside, so it runs cooler, gets more holes per charge, and lasts longer. It used to be a ₱4,000-plus feature; you can now get it for around ₱2,000.
They're for different jobs. A 12V drill is around 1kg, cheaper, and easier to hold overhead, which suits furniture and light household work. A 20V drill roughly doubles the weight and the power, and it's what you need for concrete. Buy 12V for convenience, 20V for capability.
Because the number is marketing, not a measurement. Some Shopee-first brands relist one tool at several voltages. Ignore it and read the torque in newton-metres and the rpm range instead, since those describe what the drill can actually do.
