A cordless drill is the one power tool almost every home ends up needing, for furniture, shelves, curtain rails, and the occasional wall bracket. Here’s how the most popular cordless drills on Shopee Philippines compare.

Torque, chuck, and what ships in the box

We compared torque in newton-metres, chuck size, motor type, speed range, and what actually ships in the box, then weighed each against its price. We favored listings with strong sales and ratings, and we checked every spec against the manufacturer’s published data where it exists. Where a brand publishes nothing, we say so in the review instead of repeating the listing’s claim.

Cabinet hinges and drywall need only 16 to 25Nm

Torque, measured in newton-metres (Nm), is how hard the drill can turn. It’s the single most useful number on the box.

• 16–25Nm: wood, drywall, plywood, light metal. Flat-pack furniture, cabinet hinges, curtain rails on wood. This covers most household jobs.
• 40–60Nm: everything above, plus hollow block and concrete with a hammer mode. Wall brackets, shelf anchors, a TV mount.
• 60Nm and up: large hole saws, long lag screws, frequent masonry. More than most homes need.

Match the tier to your actual list, not to the biggest number you can afford. A 66Nm drill doesn’t assemble furniture better than a 20Nm one.

Why you should ignore the voltage sticker

Voltage mostly tells you how big and heavy the tool is. A 12V drill weighs about 1kg and is far nicer to hold above your head; a 20V drill is roughly double the weight with the power to match.

What voltage does not reliably tell you is capability, because some Shopee-first brands print whatever number sells. We found the same KEELAT KCD005 listed as 12V on one page, 18V on another, and 36V on a third, with identical torque and rpm specs on all three. The physical drill can’t be all three. When a listing’s voltage and its torque disagree, believe the torque.

A 10mm chuck rules out most masonry bits and hole saws

More than people expect. The chuck is the jaw that grips the bit.

• 10mm chuck: fine for wood and screwdriver bits, but it caps how big a bit you can fit, which rules out most masonry bits and hole saws.
• 13mm metal chuck: takes bigger bits and grips them harder, so they don’t slip under load.

If concrete is anywhere on your list, insist on 13mm metal. It’s the cheapest spec upgrade that changes what jobs are possible.

Brushed or brushless?

A brushed motor uses carbon brushes that rub against the spinning core. They wear down, waste power as heat, and eventually fail. A brushless motor drops them entirely, so it runs cooler, gets more holes per charge, and lasts longer.

This used to be a ₱4,000-plus feature, which made it easy to skip. It isn’t anymore: brushless drills start around ₱2,000 in the Philippines now. If you’ll use the drill more than a few times a year, pay for it.

Can you trust a torque figure with no rpm range?

Torque is the number that matters: 16–25Nm for wood and furniture, 40Nm or more plus a hammer mode for concrete. Chuck size comes next, since a 10mm chuck caps your bit size while a 13mm metal chuck takes masonry bits and holds them better. A brushless motor runs cooler and lasts longer, and it’s no longer a premium-only feature. Voltage is really a proxy for size and weight: 12V drills are about 1kg and easy to handle, 20V drills are roughly double that with the power to match. Finally, check what’s in the box, because two batteries and a bit set can be worth more than a slightly better spec.

Be skeptical of one thing: a torque figure with no rpm range and no test standard behind it. Brands that publish full data sheets have earned more trust than brands that publish a single big number.
