Why does it win this category?

Because it is the only machine here sized for a Filipino family gathering.

12 place settings is roughly double the capacity of the countertop machines that dominate this category. That is the difference between clearing a handaan in one cycle and running a smaller machine three times while everyone waits.

It manages that at 47 dB, matching the quietest tabletop model in our ranking despite being the largest machine. For a full-width dishwasher, that is genuinely good.

How efficient is it really?

Better than the raw number suggests, and this is worth understanding.

11 liters per cycle is the highest absolute water figure in our ranking. But divide it across 12 place settings and it works out at under a liter per person’s dishes, which beats every smaller machine here. The MAX-003U uses 6.5L for 6 settings, about 1.08L per setting.

The same applies to the 0.9 kWh and the A++ rating: less energy per plate than anything smaller.

That efficiency is entirely conditional on filling it. Run a 12-setting machine half empty every night and it becomes the least efficient choice here rather than the most.

What are the compromises?

Two, and the second one is genuinely odd.

It needs a full-width installation, roughly a 60cm floor gap with plumbing. That is a kitchen-planning decision, not a purchase you make on a whim, and it is the reason many Filipino kitchens simply cannot take this machine.

And it has fewer features than the cheaper models. Only 6 programs, where the MAX-003U has 7 and the MAX-002JUB has 8. No UV sterilization, which both of those include. At the top of the range, paying more for less equipment is a fair thing to be annoyed about.

For a family of four, it is money spent on space you will not use, and water spent on half-empty loads.

Who should buy it

Buy this if you are a large or multi-generational household eating together every night, you have a 60cm floor gap with plumbing, and you would otherwise be running a smaller machine two or three times. It is the right choice for a big Filipino family home, and the per-plate efficiency rewards you for filling it.

Skip it if there are four or fewer of you, where the MAX-D002MS costs less and fits a narrower gap, and skip it if UV sterilization matters, since the cheaper machines have it and this one does not.
