Nespresso Inissia review

At around ₱8,900 as of August 20, 2026: 19 bar, a 0.7L tank, 1260W, and two brew sizes. Its sibling sits on the same page for ₱300 less.

The difference against the Essenza Mini, in full

The Nespresso Essenza Mini is around ₱8,600, with a 0.6L tank and 1150W, heating in about 25 seconds.

This machine holds 100ml more water and draws a little more power. That is the difference.

A hundred millilitres is about two espressos’ worth of refilling, so for a household making one or two cups a day it changes nothing you would notice. For a house where four people each want a cup in the same fifteen minutes, it means one fewer trip to the tap.

Buy whichever is cheaper when you order. There is no third consideration.

Espresso and lungo are the same coffee, differently diluted

Two buttons, 40ml and 110ml, and it is worth knowing they use the same capsule.

A lungo is not a bigger strong coffee. It is the same dose of ground coffee with nearly three times the water run through it, which extracts further into the bitter compounds and delivers a longer, weaker, more astringent drink.

If you want a long coffee that tastes good, the better route is an espresso with hot water added afterwards, which keeps the extraction where it belongs and dilutes to taste. That is an americano, and the machine makes one perfectly well if you keep the kettle nearby.

The real cost is the capsules

Original Nespresso capsules run roughly ₱30 to ₱40 each. At two cups a day that is somewhere around ₱25,000 a year, several times the price of the machine.

Whether that is good value depends entirely on what you are replacing. Against a cafe habit at ₱150 to ₱200 a drink, it is a large saving and the machine pays for itself quickly. Against beans and a semi-automatic, where a shot is ₱10 to ₱15 of coffee, it is the expensive option.

Most people buying a capsule machine are replacing the first. It is worth being clear which you are.

What 19 bar means, and does not

Espresso is extracted at around 9 bars. Every capsule machine advertises 15 or 19, which is the pump’s unloaded maximum rather than the pressure at the coffee.

On a capsule machine this matters less than on a semi-automatic, because the capsule is a sealed system designed around the machine and the manufacturer has already solved the extraction. You are not dialling anything in. The number is on the box because it is on every box.

Descale it, or it will fail

The one maintenance job, and the commonest reason a capsule machine stops working.

Philippine tap water is hard enough to build scale inside the boiler, which slows the flow and eventually blocks it. Nespresso publishes a descaling interval and the machine will usually prompt you. Doing it costs an hour a few times a year and skipping it costs the machine.

Who the Inissia suits

Buy this if you want quick, consistent coffee with no technique, you are replacing cafe cups, and it is the cheaper of the two Nespresso machines on the day.

Skip it if you want to control the coffee, or if cost per cup is your measure.
