Powerhouse PH-BDWS-30KG rechargeable bench scale review

At around ₱1,900 as of August 20, 2026: 30kg capacity, 5g graduation, a 330x240mm platform, a dual LED display with backlit LCD, and rechargeable power from mains or D batteries.

The comparison that decides it

The Ingco HESA3303 is around ₱1,500 on a similar date, with the same 30kg capacity, the same stated 330x240mm platform, and a 2g graduation.

So the rival is around ₱400 cheaper and reads in steps two and a half times finer. Both publish their specs, which is rare in this category and makes the comparison unusually clean.

What this scale has that the other listing does not describe is the dual display and the option of D batteries alongside the mains charging. Whether those are worth ₱400 and a coarser reading depends entirely on what you are doing.

The dual display is a retail feature

Two screens, one facing the operator and one facing the customer, is how a scale is built for selling things by weight. The customer sees the number at the same moment you do.

That is genuinely useful behind a counter and pointless in a kitchen. It is also a good clue about what this product is: a bench scale for a shop, a stall or a workshop, not a kitchen scale that happens to be large.

The battery option follows the same logic. A stall that loses power still trades.

What 5g steps can and cannot weigh

Fine for sacks of rice, boxes for shipping, produce, and bulk meat. Useless for anything baking depends on.

Yeast, salt, baking soda and baking powder are measured in single grams, and a 5g graduation cannot resolve them: 7g reads as 5g or 10g. Every digital scale also has a minimum below which it registers nothing, and on a 30kg load cell that floor is not small.

If you want one scale for the business and the baking, this is not it. A 10kg scale with 0.1g steps covers far more of a home kitchen for a fifth of the price.

Getting an accurate reading from a large scale

Put it on something hard and level. Soft or uneven surfaces throw a bench scale off, and the error grows with the load.

Check it against a known weight when it arrives: a 1kg bag of sugar or a litre of water tells you quickly whether the reading is sane.

Who should buy the Powerhouse

Buy this if you sell by weight and want a customer-facing display, or you specifically need the D-battery fallback for an area with unreliable power.

Otherwise buy the cheaper bench scale, which reads finer.
