10 Best indoor security cameras in the Philippines (2026)

An indoor camera is cheap now, which is exactly why it is easy to buy one you stop using. The picture is rarely the problem. The alerts are.

Clashing resolution figures cost a camera points

We started from the indoor cameras actually selling on Shopee PH and ranked them on four things:

• Sensor resolution, checked against the listing. 3MP is our floor for a normal room. Cameras that publish contradictory figures, as two of the V380 listings do, got marked down for it.
• What the AI actually detects. Person and pet filtering is the single feature that decides whether the alerts stay switched on. Plain motion detection gets muted within a week.
• Where the footage lives. microSD support and its size cap, because a card keeps recording when the internet drops and a Filipino internet connection will drop.
• Real owner ratings, weighted by how many people rated, plus whether the seller is the brand’s own store and publishes a warranty.

3MP for a normal room, 5MP for a long one

3MP is the floor. 5MP if the room is long.

Resolution only matters at the moment you need it: the one frame where you are trying to work out who that is. On a phone screen everything looks acceptable, but zoom into a 1080p frame from across a sala and a face becomes a smudge.

• 1080p (2MP). Fine for a small bedroom or watching a crib from two meters away.
• 2K (3MP). The sensible default for a normal room.
• 3K (5MP) or 2.5K (4MP). Worth it for a long sala, a doorway several meters off, or if you want to read detail rather than just see movement.

Full-color night vision beats infrared. Grey infrared footage tells you someone was there. Color footage tells you what they were wearing, which is the part the barangay actually needs.

Pan-tilt or fixed?

Pan-tilt for a room. Fixed for a spot.

A pan-tilt camera motors around, covering a whole room from one corner, and many will auto track a person as they cross it. That is the right answer for a sala or a room with several doors.

A fixed camera watches one angle forever. It is smaller, has no motor to whine or wear out, and cannot be left pointed at a wall by accident. Buy fixed when you have one thing to watch: a door, a crib, a cash drawer.

Bulb cameras are a third option: they screw into an E27 light socket, so there is no drilling and no cable. The trade is that you lose the light, and looking down from the ceiling gives a view of the tops of heads rather than faces.

What should it detect?

This is the feature that decides whether you keep the camera switched on.

• Plain motion detection triggers on an electric fan, a curtain, a passing gecko, headlights through a window. The phone buzzes all day, and within a week you mute it.
• AI person detection filters all that out. It is the difference between a camera you trust and one you ignore.
• Pet detection matters if you have a dog or cat that would otherwise set off every alert.
• Baby-cry and loud-noise detection turn a security camera into a nursery monitor.
• Activity zones let you exclude the window or the doorway to the street.

Most homes are better off recording to microSD

Two options, and for most homes the answer is clear.

• microSD card. A one-time cost, the footage stays in the house, and it keeps recording when the internet drops. Check the maximum size: 512GB on the Tapo and Reolink cameras, 256GB on the EZVIZ C6N.
• Cloud. A monthly fee, but the footage survives if someone takes the camera. Several brands also put their better detection features behind the subscription, so check what you lose without it.

Almost none of these include a card. Budget for one.

Is it safe to have a camera inside the house?

A fair question, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you buy and how you set it up.

• Buy a brand that ships firmware updates. Xiaomi, TP-Link, EZVIZ, Reolink and IMOU all do. An anonymous camera may never be patched.
• Use a unique password and switch on two-factor authentication in the app.
• For a bedroom, get a physical lens shield. The Xiaomi C201 and C302 mechanically cover the lens, so privacy is not just a setting you hope is working. The EZVIZ C6N has a sleep mode that does the same job in software.
