Ingco HRS108 review: the riveter most people should just buy

Does it cover the rivet sizes you need?

For almost everyone, yes.

The four nosepieces cover 2.4mm, 3.2mm, 4.0mm and 4.8mm. Those are the blind rivet sizes that Philippine hardware shops stock by the box, and between them they handle:

• Gutters and downspouts, the classic riveter job
• Ducting and sheet metal repairs
• Cabinet and locker panels
• Screen and window frames
• Luggage, tool boxes and light brackets

Ingco publishes that chart, which sounds like a low bar until you scroll this category and see how many sellers do not.

What it will not do is set 6.0mm or 6.4mm rivets. Those need a 13 inch tool with more leverage. If you know your work involves them, buy accordingly.

How does it feel in the hand?

Like the standard against which the rest of this category gets judged.

10.5 inches is the all-rounder length, and it is the right call. It gives enough leverage that a 4.8mm aluminium rivet is one firm squeeze rather than a fight, while still fitting a toolbox and reaching into a cabinet or along a gutter. A 13 inch tool sets bigger rivets and will not fit those places.

The steel body is heavier than an aluminium alloy tool of the same length, and that is the trade you want if the riveter travels: steel scuffs where aluminium dents.

Two things it does not have: a stem collector, so spent mandrels drop wherever you are standing, and a swivel head, so a tight corner means turning the whole tool rather than the nose.

For a tool that covers every rivet a house will ever need, from a brand with genuine service and spares presence in the Philippines, that is very good value. The Tolsen 43001 is slightly cheaper, and the Mitsushi is far cheaper, but neither carries anything like the same owner record.

7,623 owner ratings at 4.9 is the number that decides this. That is more owner feedback than any other hand tool we have ranked, and in a category where most listings have a few dozen it means an enormous number of Filipinos bought this exact tool and were satisfied.

Who the Ingco HRS108 suits

Buy this if you want one riveter that will handle whatever the house throws at it and you would rather not think about the decision again. It is the right choice for the great majority of buyers: a toolbox tool, tough enough to travel, covering every common rivet size. If you work in corners or ducting, take the swivel-head version instead. If you set 6.4mm stainless rivets, go up to a 13 inch tool.
