WHISKAS 400g wet cat food can twin-pack review

Two 400g cans of the same wet food every Filipino cat owner already knows. The interesting part is what they cost next to the pouches.

Cans are where WHISKAS gets cheap

At around ₱218 as of August 1, 2026 for 800g of food, this works out to roughly ₱273 a kilo.

Line that up against the brand’s pouches. The WHISKAS 28-pack is about ₱338 a kilo, and the WHISKAS 56-pack about ₱402. So the can format is roughly a fifth cheaper than the best pouch price and about a third cheaper than the worst.

That gap is the packaging, not the recipe. You are paying the pouch premium for portioning, and here you are not.

The fridge is the catch, and in this climate it is a real one

A 400g can is three or four meals for one adult cat. Whatever your cat does not eat has to be covered and refrigerated straight away, and used inside about a day.

In an air-conditioned kitchen that is a minor chore. In a warm one it is a discipline, because wet food left in a bowl goes off quickly and cats are good at teaching you to top up a bowl rather than replace it. If you are out of the house all day and nobody is around to clear the bowl, the pouches genuinely earn their extra cost.

Multi-cat households have the opposite problem and should buy cans on principle: with two or three cats a 400g can is one meal and nothing goes back in the fridge at all.

Adult only

Both cans are labelled for cats aged one year and up, so this is not the food to share with a kitten. Kittens need more protein and more calories for each kilo of body weight than an adult maintenance food is built to carry.

What the label leaves out

No crude protein, no fat, no moisture on the listing. The WHISKAS 7kg adult dry bag publishes 30% protein and 12% moisture, and the wet range publishes none of it.

Most of the wet food on this page is the same, so it is not a mark against WHISKAS specifically. It does mean the reason to choose it is reliability rather than a number you can compare.

Who should buy the cans

Buy this if you have more than one cat, or one cat and a fridge you trust, and you want the WHISKAS name at the lowest price it comes at. For anyone feeding a daily wet meal on a budget, this is the format to be in.

Skip it if you are out all day with a single cat, where half a can will be sitting in a warm kitchen waiting for you.

If a can is too much at once

For single servings from the same brand, the WHISKAS 28-pack of 80g pouches is the best-priced pouch box. For a cheaper big can from another brand, the Maxwell real tuna 400g can costs less per kilo and publishes its protein.
