Deli EDL236910 review: 20Cr alloy steel at 10.5 inches

The Deli EDL236910 is a 10.5 inch riveter in 20Cr alloy steel with a replaceable nose, covering 2.4mm to 4.8mm, at around ₱426.

What is the case for it?

Material and repairability.

20Cr alloy steel is a chromium alloy used where a part needs more hardness and wear resistance than plain carbon steel offers. On a riveter that matters at the jaws and the nose, the parts that grip the mandrel and snap it. Jaws that round off are what kill a riveter, so a harder alloy there is a real if unglamorous advantage.

The nose is replaceable. On most tools in this category, once the nose wears you buy a new riveter. Here you swap the part. Across years that changes the economics of a more expensive tool considerably, and it is the same thinking behind Deli’s 13 inch model.

At 10.5 inches, 265mm, it is the standard all-rounder length with enough leverage for 4.8mm rivets.

What are the problems?

Price, and a listing that does not match the manufacturer.

Deli Tools Global publishes 2.4mm, 3.2mm, 4.0mm and 4.8mm. The Shopee listing title quotes 3.0mm and 4.2mm among its figures, which are not sizes in Deli’s chart and not sizes Philippine hardware shops stock by that name. We have used the manufacturer values and flagged the difference, but it is the sort of thing that makes buying rivets to match harder than it should be.

The bigger issue is what it costs. At around ₱426 it is roughly double the Ingco HRS108, which covers the same four sizes at the same length, and roughly double the Wadfow WHR1609 which does the same and stores its nosepieces on the body.

It also carries 4.7, a shade below the 4.9 most of this category holds. On 70 ratings that is a small signal rather than a verdict, but it does not help the case.

Is this hand riveter sulit?

For a household buyer, no. The tools that do the same job for half the money are better known, better rated and equally well documented.

The argument for spending the difference is the replaceable nose and the alloy steel, which together mean a tool you can keep working rather than replace. If you rivet weekly, that is a reasonable bet. If you rivet twice a year, the cheaper tool will outlive your need for it anyway.

Sold by the Deli Tools Official Store, with a published manufacturer spec sheet, which is worth something in this category.

Who this hand riveter suits

Buy this if you rivet often and prefer tools you can service to tools you replace, and you like having a manufacturer spec sheet to check. It is the right choice for a workshop that keeps its tools for years. If you want the four common sizes at the best price, the Ingco or the Wadfow does the same job for half the money.
