A wet food cheaper per kilo than kibble is a signal

The cheapest dry food we list, the Nutricare 1kg kibble, is about ₱113 a kilo. This pouch undercuts it.

That should stop you, because the two are not the same substance. A wet pouch is roughly 80% water and kibble roughly 10%. Take the water out of each and this pouch works out closer to ₱440 a kilo of actual food, against roughly ₱125 for the kibble.

So the headline price is not a bargain, it is the water. That is not a criticism of wet food, which is worth feeding precisely because cats drink too little and take their moisture from what they eat. It is a warning against reading the number on the listing as though it were comparable to a bag of dry.

The listing tells you almost nothing

No crude protein. No fat. No moisture. No ingredient list. No named meat. No life stage. No feeding guide.

Of everything we list in this category, this is among the quietest labels, and the pitch on the front is a real meat, balanced nutrition claim that the missing figures would be the only way to support.

Cheap wet food is fine. A cheap wet food with nothing published is a topper, not a diet, and it should not be the only thing a kitten or an unwell cat eats.

The same shop sells the same size at twice the price

IPet home also lists the PET RECORD real meat 90g pouch at roughly double this price, in the same 90g size, under the same brand.

Neither listing publishes enough to explain the gap. If you are choosing between them, that is a question for the shop rather than something you can settle from the pages.

What 90g is actually for

A 4kg adult cat needs roughly 200 to 250 kcal a day, and a gravy-style pouch supplies a small share of that. Used as a daily topper over kibble, one of these costs under ₱60 a week, which is genuinely easy on the budget and gets water into a cat who will not drink.

Used as a meal replacement, you would be opening three or four a day, and doing it on a food whose contents nobody has published.

Who the eight-peso pouch is for

Buy this if you want the cheapest possible daily wet topper for a healthy adult cat, and the main thing you are after is moisture and appetite rather than nutrition you can verify.

Skip it as a sole diet, for kittens, and for any cat on a vet’s instructions.
